Iridology is a method of diagnosing medical problems by noting the colors and locations of pigment spots on the iris.  The theory states that the iris is a map of the entire body and a pigmented spot in a certain location on the iris would indicate a disease process in a particular part of the body.  It was  first described in this country in the 1950's.  Scientific testing has shown that it has no validity and is now considered a pseudo-science.
