If you run out of lenses before you can receive your lenses in the mail, call us.  We may have trial lenses we can give you to hold you over. Wearing old, dirty lenses is never good for your eyes.

There are several different ways of wearing contact lenses:

Daily wear with the lenses replaced after two weeks.  The lenses are removed and cleaned each night.  This is the most common mode.   Disposable lenses are usually replaced every two weeks.

Extended wear with the lenses replaced after one week.  The lenses are not removed or cleaned at night.  This is the simplest mode but does have a much greater chance of health complications.

Daily wear with the lenses replaced every day.  There is no cleaning required.

Social occasional wear for those times you just don't want to wear your glasses.

Sport occasional wear for those activities in which glasses just don't work well like basketball, golfing, and swimming.

We will help you to determine if contacts are a good option for you and will be happy to answer any questions you may have.

We fit single vision, toric (astigmatism),  colored, bifocal and monovision contact lenses.  Almost all the lenses are daily wear or planned replacement lenses.  Old, dirty contact lenses cause problems.

Contact lens fees:

Our office charges seperately for contact lens materials and contact lens related services.

  • If you have not worn contacts before there will be a fitting fee, a training fee and the cost of the lenses
  • If you have worn contacts before but of a different type there will be a re-fitting fee and the cost of the lenses
  • If you have worn contacts before and we are not making any significant changes in fit or power there will be a contact lens evaluation fee and the cost of the lenses

Q. Why is there a contact lens evaluation fee in addition to the standard eye exam fee?

A. Contact lens patients require additional testing and monitoring over and above what is done during a routine eye exam. Contact lenses are medical devices and even though they may feel fine, there are health risks that must be taken seriously.

In order to renew your contact lens prescription, the doctor performs a contact lens evaluation on a yearly basis. These procedures are not part of a standard eye exam.

  • Slit lamp microscope examination of the contact lens on the eye to check the lens fit.
  • Slit lamp microscope examination of the cornea and conjunctiva to check the eye health and to look for adverse effects from contact lens wear.
  • Detailed examination of the inside of your eyelids to check the eye health and to look for adverse effects from contact lens wear.
  • Contact lens refraction to determine the correct contact lens prescription power (contact lens prescriptions are different than eyeglass prescriptions).
  • Review new lens designs and materials that may improve comfort and/or health.

Guaranteed Fit:

If we fit you with contact lenses, we guarantee your success.  If you are unable to wear the lenses successfully, we will credit the material cost of the lenses to a different type of contact lens or towards glasses.

Free Trial Program:

If you are a candidate for disposable contact lenses, and you know how to wear contacts, we will be happy to give you a pair for a free trial wearing period.

Free Color Demo:

If you want to see how you look with a different eye color we will be happy to show you.

We can fill your eyedoctors RX:

If you have a current contact lens prescription from your eye doctor we can get your lenses for you.  If you do not have a copy of the RX but it is current (less than one year old) we will get it for you.

If you are over about 44, you probably have presbyopia and will not be able to read with standard contact lenses. Click her for a video about your CL options.
