We updated our examination equipment in May 2009.  We now can take digital photographs of the inside of your eye.  It allows us to see details at a level never possible in the past. 

In the first 2 months of use, we have identified 8 patients with very early eye disease that was not detected with traditional examination techniques.  The sooner a problem is detected, the better the final outcome.

Dr. Steensma has created a new digital eye chart (Chart-MAX) for eye doctors to use in eye examinations.  It has been tested thoroughly in our office and is now being marketed to other eye doctors.  The letters are backward because the patient sees it in a mirror in front of him.

More than a great functional eye chart, it has an extensive patient education module in which the doctor can show photographs of the 150 most common eye conditions to the patient right in front of them on the eye chart.  You can see it at www.chart-max.com or in Dr. Steensma's office.
